New Pattern

I picked up a new pattern while on Christmas Vacation for a prom dress style outfit, 2 piece version. I'll need to pick up some satin type material before I can start working on this pattern.

I've also go the round skirt on the back burner for when I set up my area again.

The Final Countdown

It's wednesday before Halloween and there is still much to start and finish. I'm already well into the worried area. What's left is still very much doable but assuming no major problems or setbacks. Those are the ones you have to watch out for though. I would include more pictures but I've not got a way of taking them except with my phone and I'm not inclined to run up charges quite yet . Maybe for the finished products, I can grab a couple snapshots so I can showcase what I've made.

Progression

Over the weekend, I visited the fabric store and managed to grab hopefully an ample amount of fabric for my costume. I got something like 4 yards of the 60-inch Dark Blue and about 2 yards of some 108 inch white for the Pettifore. I also picked up an invisible white zipper for the Pettifore as well as the thread that I would need. They did not have any eyelets in the size I needed though.

The next day, I tried to get the sewing machine I had aquired from a yard sale threaded. After 2 hours of attempts, I was unable to get it threaded at all. After a look on the internet, that particular model, or brand maybe had an occasional problem where the gears would slip and the timing would get off a little causing it not to sew properly.

The next day, on the way back home, I picked up an inexpensive new sewing machine as well as the eyelets and matching tool that I still needed. I have just about everything that I need to start and finish except a couple accesories.

It's surprisingly hard to find a necklace of the right size and apperance as what I require. I'll keep looking though.

Starting Construction

I've located a crucial piece to my costume for this year and I'm about to place the order for it, once I determine whether the length is ok. I want the bottom part of the dress the fluff out appropriately and needed a petticoat that was nice and long. I managed to find one on Amazon. The irony would be if it was too long for what I want it to accomplish. Once I have that, I can start working on the dress.

Bellydancer Skirt

Issa has asked me to make her a skirt she saw in a shop at the mall. Upon a quick examination of the article of clothing, I was able to determine the most likely production method of that item. I just need to get her to pick out some sort of fabric from the fabric store and I'll be able to get down to business. Apparently some styles of clothing are done with just a simple but abnormal starting shape.

2009 Concept

I was thinking of creating an American McGee's Alice costume for Halloween this year. I'm working on some rough idea design sketches to figure how I might go about creating that costume.
